Flic 2 Bluetooth button

Fish on?
Click.

Pair a Flic 2 with FishBytes and clip it to your hat or life jacket. While a trip is recording, press it the moment a fish hits: the spot and time are saved and your phone stays in your pocket until the fish is landed or lost.

Why use it

Phone stays put

Leave your phone zipped in a pocket or a dry bag. The button talks to it over Bluetooth, so there's nothing to unlock and no screen to wipe.

Clip it anywhere

Your hat or your life jacket: put it wherever you can reach it without looking. It's splash-proof, but don't let it go for a swim.

The spot is exact

The spot and time are saved the instant you press: where the fish hit, not wherever you remember to log it after the release.

iPhone and Android

The same button works with FishBytes on either, including iPhones without an Action Button.

Set it up once

You need FishBytes installed and a Flic 2 in hand. The welcome tour offers the same pairing if you tell it you have one.

  1. 1

In FishBytes, open the Account tab and tap Connected Devices.

  2. 2

Tap Add new device, then Scan. Allow Bluetooth if your phone asks.

  3. 3

Hold the Flic 2 down for about 8 seconds, until it blinks. FishBytes shows Flic2 connected! when it's paired.

  4. 4

Tap Done. The button shows up in Connected Devices with its battery level.

On Android, tap the button in Connected Devices. If it shows Companion Status, tap it, then Enable. That lets the button open FishBytes while it's in the background.

Won't pair? Check Bluetooth is on and that the button isn't paired to another phone, then scan again.

On the water

Fish on

Press the button. The spot and time are saved right then, and your phone never leaves your pocket.

Fight it

Both hands on the rod. The timer runs on its own.

Landed

Now take your phone out. Snap a photo from the catch notification or the app, and FishBytes suggests the species. Add the length and details now or later.

Lost it

Tap Lost Catch on the notification, or hold Lost it in the app. It goes in your log as a lost fish, with its spot and how long you had it on.

Either way, you're back to fishing.

Start your trip before you cast. The button only logs while a trip is recording; with no trip, a press does nothing.

No button?

iPhone Action Button

iPhone 15 Pro and newer can log with the button already on the side of the phone. Set it up →

Android

Add the Log Catch tile to your Quick Settings and log with a swipe and a tap. Set it up →
