Master Angler tiers
How big was it,
really?
A 19-inch smallmouth is a great fish. A 19-inch pike is a small one. FishBytes gives every measured fish a tier by comparing it with the Master Angler size for its species, so you know how good a catch it was, whatever you caught. The sizes come from Michigan's Master Angler program.

The tiers
Reach Master Angler size, it's Epic.
A fish's tier is its length as a share of the Master Angler size for its species. Epic is the one to aim for.

Where the sizes come from

Not the DNR
FishBytes isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the Michigan DNR. A tier is for your own record book; it doesn't enter a fish in the Master Angler program. To do that, apply through the Michigan DNR.
